All in all a very nice event to do some networking and getting the name of ManualsFountain out in the community, by being a speaker at this event.

An interesting story…

First of all ManualsFountain would like to give thanks to all the people organizing this wonderful event.
The JoomlaDys NL took place on April 23rd and 24th, 2010 in Utrecht and ManualsFountain was there, with an interesting story to tell.

Getting ready to give the presentation. Beamers and laptops...

Supporting your clients…

As a web developer you need a very keen eye to see where your customers will have difficulties managing their new websites. So you need to support them. But how? There are many ways of support and some are quite time consuming and some are very frustrating for end-users. The fun of your job is going quickly down the drain if 20 customers are calling about the same problem, and the problem is a basic Joomla action or feature.

The view of the End-User

Marc Barteling , CEO of ManualsFountain.com, presented the case of Natascha, the end-user of Joomla and the difficulty she had with finding the best way to change her websites menus. Marc outlined that there were lots of sources for help and Natascha tried each source. Some were frustrating to use, others were hard to access.
Fortunately, ManualsFountain has a solution available for the support problems that lots of web developers face: Professional Video-Tutorials. These video tutorials take the end-user through Joomla step-by-step, making them familiar with all the basics. Natascha was happy to use them, so why not let your end-users try them?

"Joomla is not about Joomla."

Joomla and Origami?

For the people in the room listening to Marc’s presentation, there was some interaction too, to make them understand how difficult Joomla can be for someone who’s never used it, the audience was given a sheet of origami paper, and told to fold the ManualsFountain origami logo from it. No-one succeeded to fold the bird, without support and instructions. This way Marc made the audience understand the value of good end-user support.

Other JoomlaDays experiences

We also visited other presentations during the day. A lot was learned from the lead man of 2Value, Henk van Cann. We were surprised by Henk-Willem Laan with the inspiring story about the Marshal Smith Syndrome and how Joomla helped him and his son. At the end of the day we had some good laughs about Brian Teenman’s story about how Joomla got its name.

Learn more about ManualsFountain.com

ManualsFountain’s Video-Tutorials were met with great enthusiasm on the JoomlaDays.

We have released the Dutch WordPress manual!

As we announced earlier, we’ve released the Dutch version of the WordPress Manual. This because of the success of the English version. The manual consists of 16 high quality professional video tutorials. The voiceover is English, but now we’ve released the Dutch Subtitles Track. This means that Dutch people can now get to work with WordPress in their own language!

We are not done yet, though. Later this year we will release also German, Spanish and French translations of the manual. World Wide blogging with ManualsFountain.com!

Curious what the manual has to offer? The manual covers a wide range of subjects, which will make you a pro in working with WordPress in no time.

The WordPress manual:

First the manual covers the basic principles of WordPress. This chapter features subjects as: “What is a Blog?” and “What is WordPress?”

Then it will make you feel at home, by teaching you to getting around in WordPress. It will do this by teaching you about the Interface of WordPress, how to use the Dashboard and how you need to Manage Roles and Users.

After making you feel comfortable in WordPress, the manual will continue with Editing Content. This section will teach you How to Write Posts, How to Manage Posts, How to Format text, How to copy and Paste Text, to Work with Comments, How to Use Tags and Links, to Use the Media Library and How to Use Images and Video’s.

Next up in the manual is how to Organize Content. In this section subjects like “Using Pages”, “Using Pages” and “Using Widgets” are covered.

To finalize the manual we’ve added Additional Reference. This section contains a PDF file with sources for more help and a User Comparison Chart.

If you’ve gotten really curious about what we have to offer:

Hoe kunnen we nieuwe FOSS gebruikers beter ondersteunen?

Hoe kunnen we nieuwe FOSS gebruikers beter ondersteunen?

Posted in 28/11/2009 ¬ 09:30h.jan1 Comment »

Mijn antwoord is ontkennend.
