Video tutorials on demand

[Visit the DUTCH page here.]

Video-tutorials are a great way to explain your software to your clients, or to give a product or company presentation.

In addition to our own opensource video-tutorials, we also make video-tutorials on demand.

Read more about the Process, Specifications, Costs and Contact below, or view a demo movie first.

The process

Intake
In this meeting, your software expert gives us an overview of your application. Together we decide which topics and tasks will be video-tutorialized.

Write scenario's
For each movie we write a scenario: a brief description of the action happening in the movie, and the full voice-over texts.

Script Corrections
The client reads the scenario's, and corrects them.
After that, we finalize the scenario's.

Voice-over recording
In our audio studio, we record the voice-over texts. For English texts, we usually work with Jeremiah The Voice, a professional voice-over from the USA, who lives near Amsterdam.

Movie Recording
Once we have the edited audio tracks (MP3), we create the screen-capture movies, according to the scenario.

Movie Editing
The rough movies are then edited. We sync actions on the screen with  the voice-over, add zoom-ins where nescessary, and fine-tune the whole thing to a smooth movie.

Movie Corrections
The movies are then viewed by the client, who gives comments and feedback.

We edit some more, and after that, we finalize the movies.

Subtitling
When the movies are final in the original language, we add subtitles in the agreed languages.
We provide the English or Dutch translations; for all other languages we always work with Da Vinci Vertalingen.

Delivery
When all is done, we publish the final versions and deliver them to the client, online as streaming or downloadable movies on our website, or as files via FTP or on a CD-rom.

Specifications

Movie format
We prefer to deliver the movies in MPEG-4 format, as that gives the best quality vs. filesize. Best alternative is SWF, but that filesize is much larger.

Movie resolution
We usually create movies on a 640x480 pixels resolution. Other resolutions are possible, too.

Languages
Voice-over is usually in 1 language. Additional languages are provided as subtitles to the original movie.
Sample: a movie with English voice-over and Dutch subtitles.

'Zapping' in movies
A great feature
are the clickable sub-topics in a movie.

Startscreen
For a professional look, movies usually have a branded startscreen. The client can provide that, or we can create one.

Hosting
We can host the streaming movies on our website the client can host  them, or the movies can be hosted on a 'neutral' provider like screencast.com.

Costs

Quotation
The costs of video-tutorials are different for every project, but always based on the amount of movies, average movie duration and the complexity of the project.

After a good briefing, we will gladly make a quotation for you.

Updates
If you plan to update your software in the future, you may also want to update the video-tutorials. We can make a provision in our quotation for that.
